SBD 2025 Campout - Final Details
Hi All,
Seattle Bike Disco’s second campout will begin next Friday, May 2nd!
If you’re getting this email, you’ve filled out the registration form. Thank you! Hopefully this message will contain everything you need. If not, please reach out and we’ll try to address anything missed ASAP.
We ask that everyone review this slide deck for details about the route, bike camping, and other expectations before attending:
Group Rides
There will be two group rides led from the SODO Light Rail Station to Manchester State Park. These rides will go over the lower West Seattle bridge, loop around Alki, then proceed through Lincoln Park to the Fauntleroy Ferry. We will be taking the ferry to Southworth, then riding along the coast to Manchester State Park. There will be a small grocery stop along the way for beverages and snacks.
The ride is approximately 18 miles, we estimate it will be about two hours of riding with a 40 minute ferry in the middle.
If you’re joining us for a group ride, please meet at the SODO Light Rail Station no later than:
- Friday, May 2nd @ 1:15pm (leaving at 1:30pm to catch the 3:05pm ferry)
- Saturday, May 3rd @ 9:30am (leaving at 9:45am to catch the 11:35am ferry)
Everyone is expected to bring their own ferry fare (~$9) unless they’ve made arrangements with us ahead of time.
Those of you who can’t make either of the group rides are more than welcome to join us at either of the ferries or arrive directly at the Manchester State Park group campsite. However, please do not arrive before 3pm on Friday, May 2nd!
Group Chats
We’ve set up Signal messenger groups for each of the rides. These can be used for a variety of things, from day-of-logistics to coordinating food, gear, load-sharing, etc. Please be sure to join one if you’re planning on riding with a group!

- Saturday ride Signal group: (redacted)
Note: group ride links were included in direct emails, but due to the potential for abuse, we ask that you message Salt directly for an invitation.

Food & Beverages
We are making chili and corn bread muffins for dinner on Saturday ONLY. Riders are responsible for sustaining themselves otherwise. That said, there is potable water on site, and we’ll have stoves and pans that can be used. Check the slide deck linked above for some suggestions of ready made calorie dense bikepacking food.
Also, the group rides will be stopping at a small grocery on the far side of the ferry. Please feel encouraged to pick up snacks and drinks to share there or pack them in!
And please bring something to eat with so we can reduce waste. As suggested in the slide deck, a minimal kit might include a bowl, utensils, and mug.
There is a plan to head to brunch in Port Orchard as a group on Sunday, then taking the foot ferry to Bremerton and ferry back to Seattle. You’re more than welcome to join or make alternate arrangements.
Weather
As we get closer, please keep an eye on the forecast and make sure you’ve packed proper clothing and camp gear. Currently the 14 day forecast is showing highs in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s with a chance of patchy rain on Friday. That said, predicting weather in the PNW is…

Late Registrations
While we “closed” registration on April 24th, there appears to be capacity for additional riders. If you have friends who weren’t able to sign up, please have them fill out this form ASAP:
If the form is closed, then we’ve reached capacity. Riders who aren’t registered will be asked to not camp with us.
Rules & Expectations
As a reminder, everyone is expected to follow the state/city/park rules as well as those we’ve set. Here’s an abbreviated list:
- We’ll be camping rain or shine
- No one should arrive before 3pm on Friday (May 2)
- Everyone must be off-site by 11:30am on Saturday (May 4)
- Amplified sound is not allowed at the campground (acoustic instruments welcome!)
- Kegs are not allowed (smaller quaffables welcome!)
- this is a pet-free adventure
- breaking any of the rules may mean being asked to leave
Alright, we think that’s all for now. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you see something we’ve missed. See you all next week!
Sincerely,
Seattle Bike Discorganizers
